336 Study Online!
The preliminary Illinois 336 Cooridor Plan has been released for public viewing, and is available here. There was be a PUBLIC MEETING on March 20, but if you missed it, you may still email comments to the committee.

State of Development 2006

Brenda Pyatt gave her annual State of Development in Carthage speech on Feb 4, 2006, to the annual gathering of the Carthage Area Chamber of Commerce. You can read her speech in its entirety here. As you can see, Carthage is positioned for great things!

Introduction

Carthage was lucky enough to win a grant from the Illinois Dept of Transportation a couple years ago, for the purpose of doing a detailed study on the impact that Highway 336 would have on our small community. A study committee was set up, and it became an official committee of the Planning Commission under the leadership of John Huston, and they went to work.

The output of their work is ready for public viewing and comment. Hardcopy versions may be checked out for THREE DAYS ONLY to the public, from the Carthage Library. Also, copies are available for browsing at City Hall. And finally, copies are available for download from this site (see below).

Download the Study

The study document contains a number of very detailed drawings. Because of this, and the extensive amount of data and research that is in the document, it is quite large (17 MB!). It will take VERY LONG to download via dialup connections. However, if you have broadband, you can probably download it without much trouble (it'll still take awhile, however). Because of this, it's not only offered in its entirety (which is a large 17MB file), but is also offered in pieces, in case you are only interested in certain parts.

Also, for extra-large figures, you have a choice of downloading the hi-resolution original, or a lo-resolution version. Be aware that on some lo-res versions you may not be able to read text, but they will give you an idea of what's in the picture, in case you don't care about it. File sizes are shown for the various picture/figure options.
