Carthage is the site of a very active business community, which is headed by the local Chamber of Commerce. Chamber committees are active in promoting local businesses, providing resources, and working together to enhance the business climate of the community.

Carthage Community Development
The purpose of the Carthage Community Development office is to provide assistance to persons wanting to locate new businesses in the area, to help with expanding or enhancing current businesses, to increase youth engagement in the community, to promote tourism, and to serve as a liaison with community groups to benefit quality of life in the Carthage area.
