PROGRESS REPORT

(watch here for final reports on the Strawberry Festival. For now, here's the scoop!)

The FESTIVAL WAS GREAT! Friday's rain-out to the high school barely put a dent in the festivities, and so far, Saturday has been the best festival yet! CONGRATULATIONS to the Pageant Winners from last night: Queen is Becky Geissler, Junior Miss is Shani Belshaw, and as soon as some sends an email to the webmaster, we'll post who won the Little Miss pageant (sorry about that!).

Saturday's events started with the 25th Annual Strawberry Strut, with a huge turnout. Runners and walkers enjoyed a warm, sunny trip around the lake road, but all finished by 10:30. The Lions Eye Screen trailer was on the square, and the Kiwanis started serving food from their hog roast around 11:00.

Classic cars filled the south side of the square, vendors displayed their wares, Sly Fox sold their famous strawberry shakeups, folks enjoyed strawberry shortcake and sundaes. Overall, Saturday was just a perfect day for a festival. BUT WAIT!It's not over yet! If you're reading this, and it's still Saturday, YOU SHOULD BE ON THE SQUARE! At 5:00 the musical entertainment starts from the stage on the north side of the courthouse lawn, and at 6:00 the main Bluegrass Band starts their two hours of music. Come on out, it's a great time to be in Carthage!
