Regular Meetings
The Carthage Area Chamber of Commerce Board meets at noon on the third
Tuesday of every month, at the Towne House Restaurant on the east
side of the Carthage Square. All area business leaders are encouraged
to attend, whether or not you are a member. Please contact the Chamber
Secretary for any additional information. We order lunch off the menu
at the restaurant, and usually get all of our business wrapped up
in under an hour.
Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting of the Chamber is held on a Saturday of
February, in the evening. There is a large dinner and a great program.
The highlights of the evening start with the announcement of the Citizen
of the Year award, given to that person in the Carthage area who has
shown much dedication to the betterment of Carthage in any of many
regards.
Following Dinner, local service groups will recognize their members
of the year, and the Carthage Community Development Director will
give a status update on Carthage development efforts.
The formal annual meeting usually elects the next year's board
members and officers, and approves the reports from the previous
years. (For you history buffs, get the list of all Chamber Presidents
since 1931 here!)
Finally, it's time for the main program to be presented. This
can range from a local politician to a local TV celebrity, and is
always entertaining and/or informative.
Benefits of Membership
The local Chamber sponsors a number of events throughout the year
aimed at bringing more people into Carthage. This is an obvious benefit
to the retail businesses, especially those located on the square,
but what good is Chamber membership to other types of businesses?
It's obvious to most people that "all boats rise when the water rises".
That is, if anything happens to benefit the other businesses and/or
citizens of Carthage, then you can expect YOUR business to benefit,
at least indirectly, as well. These events that bring more retail
to Carthage may help to keep one of your accounting customers in business,
or one of your insurance customers. Or, that extra business may allow
the store owner to expand, bringing more goods or services to Carthage
to make it more convenient to shop locally without the long drives.
Or maybe the festival atmosphere of some of these Chamber events will
encourage a new family to make Carthage their home, bringing additional
tax revenue to our schools and city. You see, anything that the Chamber
can do to increase visibility and traffic for Carthage can only help!
So please, if you don't belong to the Chamber, take a look at all
they do, and consider the $75 membership fee as a very small price
to pay.
Other benefits of being Chamber members:
- Buying Group (coming soon)
- Web site exposure (Chamber members will have a more prominent
place on the Carthage Web Business Gallery)
- Networking (The Chamber After Hours events, held monthly, gather
other business owners together and allows a free, open discussion
of issues important to you!)
- There are many other benefits of Chamber membership. Join now
and find out!

There are over 130 members in the Carthage Area Chamber of Commerce.
Many of these businesses, and/or their owners, spend a large amount
of their time volunteering to help the Chamber and the city in their
activities. Please patronize these people as often as possible,
and say "Thanks for making Carthage a better place to live!"
The list of members is now maintained online, and you can see it
by clicking here.
You can select a category of business from within this list, and you will be shown only the chamber members who
are in that category. Please tell them you found their business here!
A new 4-lane freeway is being built towards Carthage, and with it comes many exciting opportunities. We will put more
information about that here soon. In the meantime, don't forget to check the Carthage
Industrial Development Site for information that may help in
business expansion to the Carthage Area...
